Yume Pink Lady and Rainbow Heart (Part 1)

Happy Sunday!

Wow, what a long week it has been.  It consisted of firefighters, a dog opthamologist and creeping into our new, and not exactly ready for moving in, apartment in the middle of the night for looksies.  The order I wrote that in makes it sound much worse than it is!  We didn't burn down the house, injure the dog and move due to fire.  I promise.  (Our pup is older now, we smelled gas in the apartment - all clear!, and finally got the apartment we'd been eyeing for awhile.)  Phew!

So, now that I have a precious day to myself... on with Yume Nail Lacquer!

Yume Pink Lady
Pink Lady is a beautiful medium pink textured polish with holographic glitter throughout. This was 2 coats.  Great formula!

Yume Rainbow Heart
Rainbow Heart is a sheer light pink and gold duochrome with holographic glitter throughout.  This was 3  thin coats and still showing my nail line.

Yume has a Facebook page and an Etsy page (Although, right now they are on vacation!)

Next up is Yume Time Distortion and Yume Sand Pearl - super fun polishes.

Hit Polish Fern Gully, Denim & Roses and Tigerlily

I've been following Hit Polish for awhile now and have yet to be disappointed in her colors or quality.  She, also, has 50% off sales... which is right up my alley!

Fern Gully
Fern Gully was on sale as it was after Christmas time and I didn't own a holographic green. Plus, it really reminds me of a christmas tree with holographic decorations.  This is 3 coats as it's a sheer jelly base.

Denim & Roses
Denim & Roses is such a unique medium blue holographic with red and pink glitters in a jelly base.  This was 3 thick coats (or 4 thin) as it's also on the sheer side. I, also, took a million pictures because I wanted to assault everyone's eyes with the holo!

Tigerlily
Tigerlily is the perfect neutral holographic brown with an orange tone.  I'd consider this a work safe color as it looks like a simple nude brown color from the distance.  I mean, when is your boss within staring distance of your nails?

You can get Hit Polish here and check out their Facebook page!

Rainbow Honey Jelly Red Sandals and Mr. Saturn

I just got my August box for Rainbow Honey!  The third polish was a base coat (All Your Base) which I have received many times in the past.  You can never have enough base coat!

Jelly Red Sandals
Jelly Red Sandals is a jelly pink based red.  Great formula.  It's sheer which is to be expected with any jelly polish.  I wore this one out as I ended up loving it.

Mr. Saturn
Mr. Saturn BROKE MY CAMERA.  Just kidding... but no really, it was a bitch to photograph and I ended up turning half of my lightbox lamps off.  And, even then, it's still not accurate in color.   It was like I was taking pictures of the sun and the above is the best I could do.

Okay, I love texture polishes and Mr. Saturn is a texture with a silver microglitter.  However, it's a rough (read: sharp) texture and takes awhile to fully dry due to being a little thick.  Very scratchy.  Whatever, still love the color!

Lillian Eve Monthly Subscription Box August 2015

Well, I am having quite the problem right now!  These are not named!  Or at least, my bottles are nameless!  In this box, the polishes came without any individual boxes or padding (happened in a previous LE monthly box as well) so there were some inconsistencies in this subscription service.

Okay so there is a beautiful green with gold shimmer and a nude-ish pink with the smallest red microglitter I've ever seen.   In fact, it's so small and sparse that it may be unmixed pigment or my imagination.

The green needed 3 coats and the pink needed 2 thick or 3 thin.

I was informed via email newsletter that the monthly box is being discontinued and that this will be the last month (see below).  They still sell polish on the website.  I will definitely buy from them again as I love their fun colors and the formulas are ALWAYS fantastic.  They dry very fast.

As you may have already heard, the latest LE Duo Box for August will be the last to ever leave our studio. We made this decision for a few reasons, but mostly we want to bring our focus back to our seasonal collections and making your experience with Lillian Eve a fabulous one.

So there you have it.  Bye bye subscription box, hello indiviual polishes!

Lavish Polish Poolside and Peek A Boo

Today, I two have Lavish Polish's for you!  I was able to get these during a sale a few months ago from the website and, while these are no longer available, they have some nice polishes.  Very unique glitter combinations and the colors are great.

Poolside
Poolside is a pretty light blue with various colors and sizes of circle glitter (some holographic).   In some light this leans yellow which I don't like as it's not flattering on my skin tone.  However, next time I will try this over blue or green. This was 3 coats - semi thick ones to achieve opacity and there was still some patchiness.

Peek A Boo
Love Peek A Boo.  This was patchy as well but I love the combination of pink circle glitters and a purple case.  I will never get enough pink or purple.

The next time I order from Lavish I will try the cremes!

Pretty & Polished Nova Say Nova, Draximum Security and She Did The Mash

Happy Friday!!  Today I've got some Pretty & Polished for you all...

Nova Say Nova
Nova Say Nova is a duochrome shifting from burgundy to mustard gold with a hint of green.  Such a beautiful color combination.  This is a pretty strong duochrome so you will see it on the nail.

Draximum Security

Draximum Security is a sheer blue base with blue squares and hexes with red flakes.  It's quite chunky so this can get messy fast!  Here I have Draximum Security over white (middle) and black (ring).

She Did The Mash
She Did The Mash is so cute!  I really love this clear based glitter topper.  I have it over white here but it would look good over any color.  This was a lemming of mine for quite a while and I'm glad I bought it! Plus, it gets me singing... "She did the mash!  She did the monster mash!.."

Pretty & Polished can be found on Etsy and their website.  The "Say Goodbye!" section is slightly panic inducing and makes me want to quickly snatch them all up!

Nuance by Salma Hayek Prickly Pear, Sea Glass, Azalea and Coral Reef

I've got 4 Nuance by Salma Hayek polishesfor you today! Nuance polishes have a really good formula.  Even when one is slightly streaky, it self levels and becomes streak-less on the second or third coat.   These are around $6-7 at CVS, so not that cheap but not exactly expensive either.

The bottles claim to be “Chip Resistant, Long Wear and have Natural Botanical Extracts”.  I have yet to wear one of these longer than a day but from what I saw, it certainly is chip resistant.  I can’t say anything about the “natural botanical extracts” bit because, really, what the hell do I know about that?  Nothing, I say!

Nuance Prickly Pear

Prickly Pear is a warmer leaning dark green.  I can see how this would seem a bit blue in some lights and, when it separates in the bottle, it has a yellow base. This could be a one coater if a thick coat is used.  However, I used two coats here.

Nuance Sea Glass

Sea Glass is a pretty mint color which leans warmer than most of the mints I own.  This was 3 coats and I noticed some slight patchiness towards the base of my nail where the formula thinned out a bit.  However, I think this was due to user error. I would maybe use 4 coats next time.  But come on, who wants to sit there for 5 days waiting for all those coats to dry.

Nuance Azalea

Azalea is a shimmery red that is surprisingly not that sheer.  When I picked this up I assumed it would be super sheer and takes at least 4 coats to be presentable.  This was two coats and, while you do see visible nail line, it’s really not bothersome to me at all.  The shimmer gives this polish a bit of the life it needed to avoid becoming an otherwise somewhat boring color.

Nuance Coral Reef

Coral Reef is a warm medium orange.  This was 3 coats with some slight patchiness but, again, probably user error and not really noticeable.

I really like these polishes.   I will go back and pick some more up in the near future.  I had my eye on a grey with a silver shimmer and a pink.  Eh, what the hell... off I go to CVS.
